Obituary for Clyde Richard Durham

On Monday, October 14, 2019, Clyde Richard Durham, 86, of Springfield, Missouri, passed into eternal life to join his Savior Jesus Christ. Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend.

Born on June 9, 1933, in Springfield Missouri, to Paul and Fannie (Nash) Durham. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 44 years, Deloris "Kay" Durham in 2001, and is now re-united with her in paradise.

Clyde is survived by his son, Richard Durham; his daughter, Trish West; his grandsons, Zach West and Anthony Durham and wife Raquel; his Great-granddaughter, Taylor West; his sisters, Nancy Adler, Pat Maples, and Kathrine Williams; his brother, Michael Durham; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.

Clyde was the Greene County Land Surveyor by elected office and served this community for over 20 years. He was also in private practice until he retired in 2004.

Clyde always told funny stories about his childhood and growing up with his sister and partner-in-crime, Nancy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and retold heart warming moments about his mom. He married Kay Slavens on March 8, 1957 and started his family. He loved her dearly and looked forward to the day when he could be with her again.

Dad enjoyed fishing and baseball the most of all. We all enjoyed summers at the river with him and mom. He loved to teach his grandsons to fish, and loved to watch and talk about sports. He loved his grand-dogs, Milo and Otis. He adored his grandsons and his "flower girl" Taylor and they called him Papa, Papal, and Paps. He cared deeply for his family and none of us will ever have to question his love for us. We love you Dad! You were our Father and our friend.

A graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Maple Park Cemetery, located at 300 W. Grand Street Springfield, MO 65807.
